That's exactly what I did, and I apologize! I couldn't commit to posting on the blog as often as I would've liked. I would love to get back on the bandwagon of things.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">My taste in makeup has drastically changed while I was gone. My daily look now consists of a simple cat eye with liquid liner and saturated lips. When I mean saturated, I'm talking about red lips and bright colors.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Along with the change mentioned above - I no longer hoard make-up. I have purged most of my collection and downsized greatly. I now only have 17 lipsticks, 10 blushers and 5 lipglosses. It's a very good size and I would like to keep it this way for as long as I can. I just was so overwhelmed with the amount of crap I had.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">There has been a flood of new collections for the Spring and holy shit, it's almost February. The one item that had me skip a beat is the Cruel Gardenia Meteorites from Guerlain. Highlighter has always made me look greasy but this powder...oh, this lovely disc of unearthly beauty, simply makes me glow. It's so subtle that most people would argue against spending the money on it but seriously...you need this. Did I buy a back-up? I'll let you guess on that one. I swear I'm not hoarding.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I will try to post a post with pics soon. I thank those who still come to visit my blog after being MIA for eternity and beyond!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">1. Swearing less definitely did not work as a New Years Resolution. Why the hell do people bother with these anyways?
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">2. Why do elderly people insist on driving at 80 when they can't even stay in between the lines? Going 20km less than the limit. On a one lane street. With their faces right up against the windshield because they can't see. Yeah. Do I like to bitch? Oh yeah. Juujubezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06200531951083459626noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439721756904174540.post-53039970509284531832011-07-01T18:25:00.000-07:002011-07-01T18:26:15.584-07:00LIPPIE: My Only Red - Dior Rouge Podium<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I've never been one to seek out a red lipstick. I just don't ever have an occasion to wear it and if I did, I don't think I'd be able to pull the look off. I say this, yet I think every woman should have one red lipstick in their collection - you never know when you might need it! Whether it is just to feel a little more glamorous or just for a dinner party. Behold Rouge Podium - an entry level red.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> The packaging is bulkier than the original and taller. I used up my old Addict, so I cannot compare with pictures.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> Dior released their revamped Addict line earlier this year and I have to say, I'm not a fan. Most of them have shimmer, which migrate and feel gritty on my lips. This is one of the few creme finishes, with no shimmer. Rouge Podium is a brown based red, making it extremely wearable. Worn alone, it is opaque and leaves a slight sheen. Worn layered with a pretty gloss, you can either amplify the shade or mute it out.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Here it is next to my mom's orchid planter in red.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This shade is not as nearly as drying as the ones with shimmer, it is comfortable on the lips - until it needs some sprucing up after a couple of hours. It fades nicely, a soft stain left behind on the lips. I probably will not be purchasing any more of these lipsticks in the future, I purchased this shade because of how easily the color can be adapted to different looks. Mind you, the only thing I change up is my blush and lip color most days. If you're in the market for a red, do check this one out. Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians!

I can't help it. I really enjoy my Revlon lippies! I will eventually get to the others but I just have not had luck with photos and lighting. If you live in the GTA, you know what I mean. It's been freaking cold, and the heater is still starting up in the house. I hope the weather realizes that it's MAY!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Mink is a limited edition color from the Suede Rhapsody collection back in 2010. I have been obsessed with brown-toned lipsticks for a while now, and I know it may sound and look dated but against my skin tone - these shades are exceptionally flattering. Mink is no exception.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The gloss I like to pair it with is another holy grail item. If Revlon ever discontinues this shade (like they recently have with Strawberry Suede - a matte), I'll go apesh*t. Pardon my language, but seriously. I will.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">In the swatches below, Mink looks straight-on brown and very, very boring. I swear it's not when applied onto the lips. It is quite brown, but there is a hint of pink in it that keeps it from looking completely flat. You just have to take my word for it. Nude Lustre is a medium brown with a slight orange base, shot through with very subtle golden shimmer. Love this gloss.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">L to R: Nude Lustre, Nude Lustre + Mink, Mink

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I often wear Mink and Nude Lustre separately, but when I crave something with more impact - I layer them together and they are perfect.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">By the way, if you are planning on purchasing CHANEL Bronze Corail ($56CAN) or Dior Nude Glow in Aurora ($48CAN) (bronzers for the summer collections), get them NOW. My counters only had one of each left and they just hit counters this week. Holy smokes Batman, these two are life-changing. I am not a bronzer gal, but the finish these give to the skin is indescribable. Love. I hope to get my posts up about these soon, but Sabrina (thebeautylookbook) and Amy (CafeMakeup) are experts when it comes to swatches and lighting. Please check them out.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
I'm a horrible person, it's been a few weeks since my last post - which by the way, was completely useless. I don't really have a legit excuse either >_>.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Anyway, Shoppers Drug Mart routinely holds a sale on Revlon lippies for $3.99. The last sale for this price was probably 2 months ago, and I picked up several new colors that I would like to share with you! I love them all =).
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Clockwise: Black Cherry, Mauvy Night, Smoky Rose, Ginger Rose & Rose Velvet.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I previously made a post showing you Rose Velvet, so I'm not going to include it in here.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The above is Ginger Rose. GR is a very, very beautiful neutral pink. It's not too cool and it's not too warm. I love pairing this with the CHANEL Glossimer in Pink Pulsion - it creates the most gorgeous brightened pink which isn't garish at all.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Smoky Rose is a pretty accurate name for this shade. This lipstick is in the Pearl finish (all the other ones shown are Creme), so it imparts a soft silver sheen. It sounds '90s, but it is quite flattering against my skin tone.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Mauvy Night. What a cute name. If you like MAC Up The Amp but find it too purple, this is a great alternative. It is a more tame version of it's grown up sister. It's not too purple, on my lips it looks great worn alone or topped off with a gloss.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Black Cherry looks like Hell in the tube. It reminds me of the classic CHANEL Rouge Noir lipstick. BC is a deepened red with purple undertones. It is quite dark, and I'm not confident enough to rock this alone but it is great worn as a stain. Swatches below:

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">L to R: Rose Velvet, Ginger Rose, Smoky Rose, Mauvy Night, Black Cherry.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I love the Super Lustrous line. They are so pigmented and so smooth. The best drugstore lipstick IMO. If you see these on sale, pick one up - you may just find a new favorite!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I only wish we carried the same shades that are available in the U.S. The Shoppers around where I live carry the same ones, but Wal-Mart has a huge selection. What's up with that?

I came across this test on io9, it is disturbing on all levels. I don't know if it is legit, but it sure was shockingly accurate.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Oh, and the questions. I couldn't take them seriously the first time I took this because..well, they are quite humorous and don't make much sense. But then I realized the nature of this test and suddenly, they weren't so humorous. I love psychology.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This vaguely reminds me of the Myers-Briggs personality quiz. Either that, or a cold read...or a complete con.Juujubezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06200531951083459626noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439721756904174540.post-69624447961428396992011-04-06T10:39:00.000-07:002011-04-12T17:03:09.892-07:00TOP 10: Manga Revisited<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">A while back, I dedicated a post solely on some of my favorite manga series. The list remains the same, but I have added quite a few more. Technically, one is an original anime series but...I'll include it in here as well. Like I mentioned before, many have an animated counterpart.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> *SPOILER ALERT*
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">xxxHOLiC is now complete. An original animated video was released earlier this year entitled xxxHOLiC Rou Adayume, which wraps up some loose ends nicely. It has been long speculated that Doumeki and Watanuki shared a more than platonic relationship, and after much ambiguity, I think this OAV confirmed it. I'm not talking about a sexually heated relationship - if you have read the manga or watched the anime, you'll know what I'm talking about. I'm not going to rant any furthur, I'm a little sad to see this series go.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica - This is an anime. But it is hands down the best original series I've seen to date. I am going to go as far as saying that this is the best series for 2011...and 2011 just started. Gen Urobuchi is a genius. He took the magical girl genre and spun it upside down on its head, but I'm sure he didn't do it alone. It's a simple idea, but this series is loaded with symbolism in every single scene. I had to watch each episode twice in order to fully appreciate the things I missed the first time around. There is a Wiki site dedicated entirely to dissecting the series, featuring deciphered runes, speculations and theories - the works. And the music...oh, the music is just beautiful. A must watch.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The spring anime season has begun but I haven't found anything that sparked my interest yet. Sorry, another non-beauty related post!

My family and I were out and about today and what happens? Some fool decides to ram into the back of our car...on a residential street...AT A STOP SIGN. We weren't even moving. How was this even possible?! Incompetent loon was probably trying to multi-task-and-failed-miserably. Luckily, no one was hurt.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">End rant.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Actually, this is the condensed version. I am a little behind in publishing a post. I'm sorry. I do not have a legit excuse, other than the fact that I have been tired and lazy. Hey, at least I'm honest =). I have a few backlogged posts that I need to <strike>finish</strike> start, please bear with me! I hope everyone has been doing well!
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> As the name suggests, this is a continuation of some GWP items I received. Normally, I do not particularly enjoy the lipsticks or lipglosses that come with GWPs, just because I feel as though they are mediocre in quality and do not speak to or reflect the real product at all. However, this combination is love.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I went and swatched the real Hydra Lustre Lipstick in Tender Mauve...and it was completely different than the GWP one. It was a strange thing. The GWP is a beautiful warm pink with silver shimmers but the shimmers are insanely gritty if worn alone. The actual product is deeper in tone and the grit is non-existent. The Pure Color Gloss in Berry is still available I believe, and it is a pretty pink with silver shimmer. Just from reading the descriptions, you can tell that they make a great pair. The gloss greatly smooths out the gritty texture of the lipstick.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> They are both quite sheer but I rather like them this way. I will have posts on these once I am satisfied with the photos. By the time I get home from work, it is complete darkness outside so I am having a hard time...finding time =_='. An item I am anticipating is the new Rouge Coco Shine by CHANEL, which is set to launch worldwide in April.

I hope to have a post within a week or so. I thank you for stopping by to check out my blog, it means a lot =D. See you in a bit!
It is a vast plethora of knowledge, you can find just about anything on there. Although, I have come across some disturbing videos that I curse to high heavens and flag...
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I am going to reiterate - I love reading user comments. Useful, offensive, hilarious, pious, crude - I read 'em all. I wanted to share with you some of the channels I frequent, some of them are beauty related while others I watch solely for entertainment.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">1. lisaeldridgedotcom - One of my favorite beauty channels by far. Incredibly beautiful and helpful, Lisa is a true makeup connoisseur. She has been in the industry for a long time, much of her work has been featured all over the globe. She is also the creative director for the brand Boots No.7. Since her channel is devoted to makeup in the purest form, her techniques and looks are a joy to watch.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">2. dustyohunter - I love dusty's channel, he is so creative and offers innovative and interesting ideas on how to use certain products. He also has a comprehensive guide for MAC foundations and concealers. It also helps that he is very easy on the eyes and extremely humorous =).

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">3. cookingwithdog - Of course I had to include an obligatory food channel. cookingwithdog focuses on Japanese cuisine, the videos are easy to follow and delectably delicious. The chefs' skills are enviable, I wish I could handle a knife as effortlessly as her!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">4. theRSAorg - An excerpt from their website explains that the RSA "<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">seeks to develop and promote new ways of thinking about human fulfilment and social progress<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">"(thersa.org). In a serendipitous moment, I found this channel and it has been a delight watching their videos, especially the animate ones. It is extraordinarily enlightening, even if I do not agree with all the points made. If you are a visual learner, like myself, you will enjoy them. Note: only certain lectures are animated.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">5. Raeview - I adore Rae and her amazing videos. She focuses mainly on high end, luxury cosmetics which I personally, am most interested in. Well versed, articulate and highly intelligent, Rae's reviews deliver. I highly encourage you to stop by and take a peek! Jesus, I make it sound like a store...

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">6. machinima - This is such an entertaining channel if you are interested in video games and the like. It offers trailers, gameplay and some original videos for your viewing pleasure. I am not fond of all the videos, but I have found some great ones in the massive volume of media. They also have a site, machinima.com, if you prefer that instead.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">7. freddiew - In another trip through YouTube, I stumbled upon Freddie's channel, who utilizes some great FX. He also has a sister site, freddiew2, which he uses as a mule to show tutorials on how these FX were created. It is all too complex for my small, meager mind so I am satisfied with only watching. I particularly enjoyed his "Future FPS" vid.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">8. russianbabe1981 - If you are a MAC fan, this is the channel to visit. Ameera is gorgeous, and she often purchases many pieces from each collection that is released (some entirely) and is gracious enough to do swatches and reviews on them. She also has videos with swatches of all the MAC lipglasses, lipsticks etc. that she has in her possession. Love her.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">EDIT 26/03/11
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">9. blushisthenewblack - I stumbled upon this lovely blog a couple of months ago while MIA. I have come to thoroughly enjoy every single one of her posts. She is beautiful and has great style, sharing the same passion for lip products as I. I highly suggest you check out her channel and blog.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> 10 - Not Applicable.
I thoroughly enjoy the lovely channels mentioned above, and I am not affiliated with any! Juujubezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06200531951083459626noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439721756904174540.post-24888443183136665172011-01-10T07:00:00.000-08:002011-01-10T07:00:34.284-08:00LIPPIE: Revlon Super Lustrous - Rose Velvet

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! The Body Shop and Bath & Body Works still has their crazy sale going on, so I stocked up on some items =). Today, I wanted to share with you another lippie favorite.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I still believe that Revlon makes the best lip products when it comes to the drugstore. My very first Revlons were from the Super Lustrous lipstick line. In my opinion, the SL Creme formula beats the living hell out of the Colorburst formula. I mean, major beatdown. They are creamy, smooth and do not skimp on pigment.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> The SL lipsticks come in three finishes: Creme, I forget and I forget. I don't care much for the other ones. Rose Velvet is beautiful:

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">In sunlight, you can see the pink tone this lipstick has.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I describe this shade as a brown based pink-rose. On my lips, it goes on true to color and is another "my-lips-but-better" for me. It has a slight sheen as you can see in the swatches, and if I were to compare this to a finish within the inventory of MAC, it would be the Amplified. This is less drying than the Colorburst lipsticks, but I still wear a balm underneath. Again, 3-4 hours of wear is expected and you can find these at any drugstore. I purchased mine for $2.99 when Shoppers Drug Mart was having a sale last summer.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> If you do not wear lipstick but want to, this is a product that you can experiment with and not have to invest too much money as it is relatively inexpensive.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Product: Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick - $7.99-10.99.
Juujubezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06200531951083459626noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439721756904174540.post-6267320275960592862011-01-07T14:32:00.000-08:002011-01-07T14:53:52.132-08:00RANDOM: Just Because<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I was catching up and perusing through Kotaku posts and this is what I found:
Nonetheless, the guy was so intense in the beginning that I will be severely disappointed if this fails big time whenever it is released. It's an interesting concept but I'm questioning the functionality. This isn't a rant, so I'll stop here.
I disagree, it is more of a blue based lilac pink. I don't find it rosy at all, at least on my NC30 cheeks it isn't. I did not expect this to be as cool as it is, most swatches I have seen present this as a warm pink. However, I still love the way it perks my skin up, it contrasts nicely.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> If you would like a more detailed description on what the finish is like, I have a post on Exhibit A, my favorite NARS product so far. Okay, maybe not that extreme but I'm sure some of you feel the same. I say this, yet a month ago I found this little gem hidden, unopened, deep in my cosmetic abyss:

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I do not remember when I purchased this. In fact, I can't remember the last time I went to MAC with the intention of looking at their Lipglass section. It has somehow eluded me for this long. Do not fear, this tube was manufactured in 2010. Dreamy is very icy and ethereal.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> A very cool pink-based lilac with gold shimmer, I normally cannot pull off such a shade because I am so warm. It is showing a tad washed out, it is more pink and lilac in real life. Worn alone, it pales me far too much but when layered over a (any) lipstick, it is gorgeous. Layering also detracts the utter stickiness of the gloss, it becomes comfortable to wear. I get around 5-6 hours of wear with this.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I do not know if this is a common occurrence, but every time I try to wear a shade that is lighter than my natural lip color - it drains the all the pigment out of my lips. It 'sets' after 30 minutes or so and transforms itself into a completely different shade. This is also why I prefer to layer because it salvages the color of the product without interference. Am I making any sense? Probably not...

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> This was another item included in my December 2010 favorites, it is just perfect for the current season. Too many. Of course, I add more to it when I come across another that I like. Which is every other day it seems. In my defense, there are non-beauty related sites thrown in there as well. I wanted to do this post because there are certain blogs that I visit more than others, I feel like they deserve their own little piece of text.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">1. The Beauty Look Book - If you aren't familiar with Sabrina's site, I highly encourage you to visit her blog. She features many high-end, luxury and indie cosmetic brands - all of which I love. Her comparison shots and swatches are so, so helpful and comprehensive. I don't think I've ever seen such comprehensive comparisons between high-end brands (even on Temptalia). She has a great personality which reflects in her writing, and a lovely sense of style.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">2. Temptalia - Christine is a godsend when it comes to early press release information and swatches. She is always at the top of her game with every MAC collection and I love her quick reviews. The amount of traffic the site receives is astounding, and I am awed at how she is able to do so many posts, hold giveaways, contests etc. all the time on top of going to school. I worry that she is not getting enough sleep!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">3. Cafe Makeup - I stumbled upon Amy's blog about a year ago, and it has been one of my favorites ever since. Amy is very knowledgeable when it comes to the history/background of a cosmetic brand. She features many high-end brands as well. Her daughter, Liz, is beautiful and is often a model for the products featured. Her photos and swatches are pristine and you will find many hidden gems embedded within her archives.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">4. Makeup and Beauty Blog - Karen's site makes me laugh. All of her posts are so quirky and humorous, how can one not laugh? You will find posts on anything to everything, from high-end to drugstore. It is also nice to see swatches on someone who is close to my own skin tone (Karen is NC35 I believe, I am NC30 at the moment). It is extremely helpful when I am trying to figure out which shades to purchase. Her cute cat, Tabs, is also featured prominently on the site.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">5. Musings Of A Muse - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">The amount of posts that show up on one day alone is astounding! I love this site because of the amount of reviews there are to peruse. There are also posts featuring Korean and Japanese cosmetics, which I appreciate because the products themselves can be hard to find. She is beautiful, talented and always answers your questions and comments timely.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">6. Karla Sugar - A.k.a, Swatch Goddess. If I am in dire need of some serious swatchage, I head immediately to this site. She is extremely efficient at swatching entire collections when they are released and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this. You will also find swatches for an entire line from a brand. For example, she has so graciously swatched all of the permanent Lipglasses, Blushers and Lipsticks from MAC. Looking for a swatch of a Rouge Coco by CHANEL? No worries. Karla has done the work for you. Amazing.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">7. All Lacquered Up - My nail polish usage has died down significantly after the Holidays have ended, just because of work and laziness. If I need a nail swatch or comparison, I go to this site. It is amazing for all the latest nail polish collections from various brands. I can spend hours just browsing through the archives to look at all the lovely shades. And I have. Sad, isn't it?

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">8. Yuki's Lazy Channel - This is a blog based in Japan I believe. You can use Google translate if you want to read the text. I love her blog because of the type of posts she creates, some of them are focused on beauty while others are focused on destinations within Japan. I plan to visit Japan in the future, I must! There are numerous posts on Japanese cosmetics as well, which are hard to find in Canada.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">9. Lotus Palace - I cannot access many of the brands that are readily available overseas but I like to read about them anyway. This site makes me want to travel just so I can get my hands on the cosmetics (I'm not a big fan of buying things online). I seriously drool at the sight of her posts, they are all so beautiful! Predominantly Korean and Japanese brands (I think there are some Taiwanese cosmetics featured as well).

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">10. The Non-Blonde - I love Gaia and her blog. She writes fabulous short reviews on products but she also throws in some harmless fun as well with her celebrity posts. I think she's hilarious. There are also many posts dedicated to scents and perfumes, which are extremely detailed and thorough. I have learned a lot from reading them even though I am not an avid perfume user. You must check her out!
After the closure of festivities, I hope to get back on track with posting this month. A couple of collections were released right on Boxing Day much to my chagrin, and there was only one particular item that caught my eye.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> Straight To The Head (STTH) lip gelee was one out of four new shades released with the Cham Pale collection. STTH is the darkest, the other three were too white based and pale for me. Actually, nearly all the items were pale, neutral and uber-shimmery. If you do not like shimmer, this product is not for you. It is chock full of it. The shimmer in this reminds me of the ones released with the Lillyland collection last year, all of which I skipped.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I love this. I seriously love this. I do not wear eye makeup save mascara, so I think I can afford to wear some bling on my lips. In the tube, it looks quite brown with some golden flecks. However, in the light, this product dances. I had a hard time capturing the various shades because the lighting was being a complete a-hole. The shimmers flash gold, green, and red but it is predominantly pink. None of the photos do it justice.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> Wow, all of them are...fail. Applied on my lips of medium pigmentation, it is quite pink. The base is a beautiful brown but because the base is so sheer and the product is so full of shimmer, all you see is the shimmer. Also, a little goes a very long way. I apply this over another gloss or lip balm to thin it out. The result is really pretty. In a not-so-subtle narcissistic fashion, I couldn't stop looking at my lips whenever I had the chance!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> The photos above were taken in progressively dimming natural light (I was sitting in front of a large window) to show the different nuances. It is not frosty on my lips, it just gives them a glow. Mind you, this is by no means within the realm of a Chanel Glossimer. The shimmer is not as refined, and the texture is different.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I think the Lipgelee formula is the best from MAC and it saddens me that they have long since discontinued many shades. I believe they are phasing them out completely. They are slightly tacky but not sticky like the Lipglass. Even though these are brimming with shimmer, it doesn't feel gritty and does not irritate my lips. No irritation = no peeling or drying. The staying power is great, I get around 4 hours of this on my lips alone. A word of caution though, try not to touch your lips too much otherwise you'll find that the shimmer will invite itself onto whatever you're touching. Left alone, there is little to no migration. If you try to wipe it off, same thing. The shimmer will be left behind and is quite annoying to get off. That being said, you can always just top off with a different gloss when the sparklies are left behind.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> One thing I also wanted to mention was the amount you receive in the tube. It is a whopping 15mL (or 0.5oz!). One tube will last me forever, but I am <strike>ashamed</strike> not ashamed to say that yes, I purchased <strike>a back-up</strike> two backups*. Most of this collection sold out within the following few days of its release, but check your local counters if you are interested as they may have some items left in stock!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">*In my lifetime I have only "backup-ed" six items...unless my memory is failing me.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Product: MAC Lipgelee - $17.50CAN
Juujubezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06200531951083459626noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439721756904174540.post-40013703028230737482010-12-29T21:10:00.000-08:002011-01-02T14:41:07.342-08:00FAVORITES: La Finale - December<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! My sister and I went shopping in the GTA area on Boxing Day...and it was complete and utter madness. At one point, we had to yell because it was so loud. The sales (or lack thereof) were disappointing! We have finally reached the end of 2010, which is completely surreal to me since many events have occurred in my life this year. Looking back on it now, it flew by *so* quickly...it`s ridiculous. Every year seems to go by quicker than the last. I wanted to share my final favorites for this year:

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">1. MAC Dreamy Lipglass - I have stated my undying loathe for MAC lipglasses before, but this shade is so gorgeous on that I can ignore that loathe while wearing it. I don`t remember when I purchased this but I recently discovered this in my collection. It`s a cool pink-toned lilac with shimmer. Since it is so pale and icy, I do not wear this alone. Over lipstick however, it`s ethereal.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">2. Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick in Tender Mauve + Estee Lauder High Shine Gloss in Berry - That was lengthy. I discovered these at the bottom of my mom`s huge bag full of GWP items (it`s Christmas in there) and I adore them. Tender Mauve is a light warm pink with silver shimmer, Berry is a light pink with silver shimmer. Together, they make the perfect pale pink lip that makes me look alive! It`s completely flattering on my NC30 skin.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">3. CHANEL Glossimer in Charming - I picked up the final Glossimer that I was missing from the Holiday collection. Charming is a warm pink with multi-colored shimmer, but on the lips it is a barely there tint with high shine. It is seriously uber-dazzling in the tube and creates a very pretty low-maintenance look. Stunning, I don`t know why I missed this one.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">4. NARS Blush Mata Hari - In the pan, it is a very cool lilac-toned pink...which is strange because on my warm skin it morphs into a pink-toned berry. This is such a unique color on my cheeks but it is not at all unwearable or unnatural. I think this is a nice shade to wear for the Winter months, it adds so much life.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">5. The Body Shop Vanilla EDP - I`m not a huge fan of fragrances, partly because most of the time people spray way too much on and puts me off from them. I do love a good vanilla though. I love it in food, home scents and candles. This has been the only fragrance I have continually repurchased over the last 5 years. It`s a warm, rich vanilla and once it dries and settles into the skin, it smells heavenly. It lasts all day for me. By no means is it a complex scent, it`s just nice and simple.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I will have posts for the above items eventually (most likely in January sometime) so please look out for those if you are interested! I wish you all a very, very Happy New Years and I hope 2011 will be great for all of you! Be safe!
It's been awhile, I know. I'm sorry, it's been a busy week and Christmas is literally at the foot of the doorstep now! Everything is so festive, I'm basking in its' glory. My favorite part of Christmas is wrapping gifts and presents...I just can't stop, I end up wrapping things I shouldn't be wrapping ^^. To finish up my MUFE post, this is the last of the lot - Mistaken Identity.
In Canada, we have Boxing Day which is the equivalent to Black Friday in the States so I will be diving into the masses that day. It gets crazy but not as crazy when compared to the U.S. I think. I progressively get angrier and more tired as the day wears on...I really hope I can contain myself this year =).

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and if you do not celebrate, I still wish you happiness. Today, I wanted to continue with the MUFE HD Blush segment with Quickie (#6). Sephora describes this as a salmon pink:

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I think Sephora is accurate, it is a little more pink in real life than the photos are showing. I like using this as a base underneath peach, bronze and pinks. It's a simple, flattering shade that you can wear anytime, anywhere. Again, I am not going to re-iterate what I have already said about these. I love them and once I run out, I will purchase the full sizes.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> On my cheeks, it definitely veers towards pink but it still works layered with the aforementioned blush shades. I don't believe in hardcore rules when it comes to makeup, so who says you have to layer a pink powder blush on top of a pink base? I like mixing it up, and the result can be beautiful. Don't be afraid to experiment!

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Product: MUFE HD Blush - $29CAN
Juujubezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06200531951083459626noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439721756904174540.post-72347278162483496602010-12-07T16:40:00.000-08:002010-12-07T16:40:29.824-08:00TOP 10: Overrated, Overhyped, Overestimated<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Have you ever felt that some things in life were just overrated? Tired of hearing about the same thing? Items that cause a mass frenzy, and you have no idea why? This is how I feel about the items below. Now don't hate, this is just my personal opinion. Some of the items I have featured on my blog may be one of these 'overhyped' products on another person's list.<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">1. NARS Orgasm Blush - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This did nothing for me. I seriously don't know what is so special about it. The shimmers in this blush give off an overly frosty sheen on my skin, not flattering at all. What's worse is the fact that only the shimmers were visible, the color didn't even show up.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">2. MAC Myth lipstick - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I'm sorry but you might as well put concealer on your lips and call it a day. I imagine that a very fair skin gal would pull this off nicely but I've seen a number of people who look hideous in this. Sorry. It makes me look like a pornstar wannabe. I'll pass. I think it can be a great layering piece but when worn alone...no.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">3. MAC Mineralized Skinfinish - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I know some are avid collectors of these. I've never come across a single one I liked enough to purchase, all of them look so frosty and shimmery on my skin no matter how or what I apply it with.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">4. Benefit blushers - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I've tried most of the boxed blushers and I liked none of them. They aren't unique in my opinion and they don't do anything for my face. Coralista was straight out orange on my cheeks. Sugarbomb was more like a Glitterbomb. <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">5. Forever21 -<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> This chain was launched in Canada a while back and while I do admit that some of their pieces are extremely cute, I feel as though the quality is equivalent to horse crap. I don't get it. Some pieces had buttons missing, threads aloof, holes even. The Canadian prices aren`t exactly cheap either especially when compared to U.S. prices.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">6. Twilight - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Do I even need to go here? I think I've gotten my point across.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">7. Reality TV Shows - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Jersey Shore, Real Housewives, MTV Crap...sure it's fun to watch. I feel like I'm watching people make fools out of themselves...oh wait. This is precisely what they're doing. Pure trash.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">8. 3D - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">It's taking over. It's popping up everywhere now. I'm not a fan because I prefer the traditional 2D, some movies are just not meant for 3D. Also, it makes me nauseous. I watched The Last Airbender a while back and my lunch nearly came up. I had a feeling that the unsuspecting person in front of me would not enjoy that too much so I contained myself.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">9. Circle lenses - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">These are tremendously popular and it's shocking to see the difference it makes. I think the subtle ones are okay but the larger ones freak me out. I'll stick to my prescription lenses, thanks.
<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">10. Useless & Pointless or Obvious 'Studies' - <span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">This is probably one of my biggest annoyances<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">. I do not disagree to the immense knowledge that is a study but sometimes...I question the said subject. Women are considered more attractive if they tilt their heads forward?! Or how about the correlation between alcohol consumption and impaired reasoning? You don't have to be Sherlock to figure that one out. How about using the money to make a difference in the world instead of telling me something I already know or don't give two craps about.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Again, this list is just a personal list. Please do not be offended, as this is not my intention. There are things that I genuinely do not understand =). Have any to add? Juujubezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06200531951083459626noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7439721756904174540.post-41180110069732254882010-12-07T07:42:00.000-08:002010-12-07T10:19:11.358-08:00CHEEK: MUFE HD Blush #3 - Truth or Dare<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I featured Nip Slip yesterday, so if you would like more info on what I think about these products please check out that post. I think regurgitating that post is redundant so I won't be doing that =D. Truth or Dare (#3) is described as a 'hot pink' on the Sephora website. Believe me, it is what it says.
The amount above is way too much even for both cheeks, I nearly had a mini episode when I saw how pigmented this was on my cheeks. I looked like a clown. Lesson learned. That being said, I forgot to mention that these can be layered if you want a brighter look (well, I'm sure you figured that out by now >_>). This would look very nice with a pale pink lip.

<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue",Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"> I have a few more shades to feature in this line coming up, so look out for those!
